Shear strengthening of concrete T-beams with lateral layers of UHPC

چکیده

Concrete T-beams are commonly used in building slab systems and bridge decks. They may require strengthening shear when they deteriorated or loading requirements increased. This research project studied the behaviour of concrete using cast-in-place Ultra High-Performance (UHPC) layers as a lateral method avoiding beam depth modification. Three UHPC strengthened beams together with one reference reinforced were tested monotonic three-point bending. Parameters investigated include thickness presence steel anchors at UHPC-concrete interface. A digital image correlation (DIC) technique was to investigate strain distribution during testing. Strain distribution, failure modes effects provided by analyzed. Results show that can substantially improve stiffness capacity T-beams, 25 50 mm increased 102% 113% T-beam capacity, respectively. Typical bending-shear observed on each layers. final without anchors, while combination bending noted anchors. The interface further increase ultimate stiffness, but limited extent. Therefore, experimental results confirmed an effective way strengthen existing inadequate

Shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams with CFRP

The current paper reviews existing design guidelines for strengthening beams in shear with carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets and proposes a modification to Concrete Society Technical Report TR55. It goes on to present the results of an experimental programme which evaluated the contribution of CFRP sheets towards the shear strength of continuous reinforced concrete (RC) beams. A tot...

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation on Shear Strengthening of RC Precraced Continuous T-beams Using CFRP Strips

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets are externally bonded to reinforced concrete (RC) members to provide additional strength such as flexural, shear, etc. It has been widely accepted that carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) can be used effectively to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) members. This paper is intended to study and use externally bonded CFRP strips to repair and st...

Strengthening of Shear Deficient Reinforced Concrete Beams Retrofitted with Cement-based Composites

The restoration of strength and stiffness of damaged reinforced concrete beams with deficient reinforcements, through retrofitting, was experimentally and numerically studied. Retrofitting is carried out by wrapping glass fiber strips using cement-based composite binders. Six beams of size 1500mm (length) x100mm (width) x 150mm (depth) have been tested in four-point bending. Three beams are use...

Flexural Strengthening of Deficient Reinforced Concrete Beams with Post-Tensioned Carbon Composites using Finite Element Modelling

The application of external post-tensioned steel bars as an effective way to strengthen an existing bridge has been so far used in many different countries. In recent decades, however, they have been replaced by bars made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), as a material with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, to address several concerns with steel bars such as their appli...

Frp Composites for Shear Strengthening of Rc Beams

ABSTRACT Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite systems can be used for shear strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) members. The present study investigated the shear performance and the modes of failure of simply supported RC T-beams externally strengthened in shear with FRP composites. Two different FRP-based strengthening systems were investigated, namely, externally bonded FRP sheets a...
